Permanent hair reduction has been experienced by some, but information on exactly how much reduction there is and how often it is experienced is limited. The difference between this and laser therapy is that a broader spectrum of light wave lengths are use (in basic terms).
The therapist uses a hand-piece that delivers the pulsed light onto the skin where it affects the hair follicle and the dark pigments of the hairs without damaging the skin itself. Therefore it is most effective on dark hairs (results on non-pigmented, blonde and red hair are poor) and large areas. It must however be done by a competent operator as it can result in skin damage or discolouration especially on darker or tanned skins.
